Please help join me in welcoming the new teams to the FRC FINFAM!

Mount Vernon (Posey County) High School
Silver Creek High School (Sellersburg)
Fort Wayne Snider
Hatchet Robotics Sibling Team

If you are interested in helping mentor a new FRC team this season, contact me – cosborne@firstindianarobotics.org and we can make introductions.

We have some more that we will be welcoming in the coming weeks.  In the mean time how can you help more communities provide this opportunity for their youth?

Can you reach out to nearby schools or community groups and encourage them to start teams?  Introduce us to teachers, principals, community leaders and more to help grow FIRST in Indiana.

FRC Volunteering

In an effort to grow our volunteer base and provide the best possible experiences for everyone, FIN will be asking every FRC team to provide at least one volunteer at every FRC event during the CRESCENDO season.

Anyone associated with the team is eligible.  It could be a parent, friend of the team, grandparent, coach, etc.  The volunteer roles filled could be any of the available volunteer positions.  From queueing, field reset, volunteer check-in, and more.

More information will be released via coach blast, social media, etc.

Home Event Preference

Starting this season, FIN will be providing teams with the option of a “home event” during the event preference process. A team’s “home event” is the closest event to their team location zip code.

You will be given the opportunity to preference your “home event” in round 1 ONLY of the event preference process.  Selecting your “home event” in round 1 will give your team priority for that event. Again: “home event’ is only relevant during round 1 preferencing.

This is entirely optional, and teams may choose not to preference their “home event” in round 1, and a team is not required to attend their home event at all. We wanted to provide this opportunity for teams to secure at least one event location they can possibly drive back and forth to.  We understand the home event may not be during an advantageous timeframe for your team.

Calling All FRC and FTC Teams:  The Future is Yours to Create

Do you want to make a greater impact in your community? Are you interested in helping FIRST inspire elementary and middle school students to be science and technology leaders and innovators? Can you help us grow the FINFAM?

FIRST Senior Mentor Lori Langley is looking for FRC and FTC teams to start FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams for the fall 2023 MASTERPIECE℠ season, where teams will shine a spotlight on the role STEM plays in the arts.

Your team can get involved by mentoring a team, sharing resources, assisting with financial support, or providing a practice space. Lori will support you throughout the season to help you manage the team, plan lessons, stay on schedule, prepare for Competition Day, and have fun!

Our goal is to offer an FLL Challenge qualifying tournament for all of the FRC and FTC-supported teams to attend as a community-building celebration, but we need your help! If you are interested in starting and supporting an FLL Challenge team or hosting a qualifying tournament, please contact Lori Langley: llangley@firstinspires.org.

The MASTERPIECE℠ challenge debuts August 1, 2023, so don’t delay! Let’s work together to imagine and innovate new ways to create and communicate art across the globe!

FIRST Mentor Network

Is your team in need of mentors?  Did you know you can set up a FIRST Mentor Network profile in your dashboard, and your team will be visible to potential mentors in your area?

Visit the FIRST Mentor Network site – https://info.firstinspires.org/mentor-network

After setting up your profile, start posting links to it on social media.  Create a one-pager and share it with your local chamber of commerce.  Share it with your local sponsors to encourage mentorship.  Take a flyer with you to local outreach events and hand it out to adults.  Create a poster with a QR code encouraging people to sign up to be mentors.  Use – canva to create your poster- printing is inexpensive.
