Design Award
The Design Award expands on this year’s challenge, inspiring teams to incorporate industrial design into their robots. These elements can be shown in the simplicity of the design as it applies to the tasks, the look and feel of the robot in how the design allows us to think of robots in new ways.
Second Place 22444 Revelation – from Lafayette, IN, USA
Here is what the Judges have to say about the winner of this award:
This team *attacks* the competition with their well designed active intake and rotating claw. Using one *fluid* motion this team is able to score over their elevator and defend the sea and the blue alliance.
Winner 26702 RoboDefenders – from Dyer, IN, USA

Here is what the Judges have to say about the winner of this Award:
Through outreach with their school, sponsors, and community, this team is proud to spread FIRST’s mission. They have become masters of branding, organized by spreadsheets galore. This lean, green, TikTok machine is ready to take STEM worldwide.
Winner 8791 Green Machine – from Greenwood, IN, USA
Control Award
The Control Award celebrates the team that demonstrates innovative thinking in the control system to solve game challenges such as autonomous operation, enhancing mechanical systems with intelligent control, or using sensors to achieve better results on the field.
Second Place 9864 Jug Rox Robotix – from Shoals, IN, USA
Here is what the Judges have to say about the winner of this Award:
Subsystem controls on robots require swift and graceful code design to operate. With eyes like a hawk (that’s somehow underwater) this team cleverly used optics to understand their robot’s surroundings throughout the game. This team floated like a bird above the competition and stung like a giant thermonuclear dinosaur.
Winner 21945 The Purple Roborioles – from Avon, IN, USA
Innovate Award sponsored by RTX
The Innovate Award sponsored by RTX celebrates a team that has the ingenuity and inventiveness to make their designs come to life. This award is given to the team that the Judges feel has the most innovative and creative robot design solution to this season’s game. Elements of this award include elegant design, robustness and ‘out of the box’ thinking. This award may address the design of the whole robot or some sub-assembly component. The creative component needs to work consistently.
Second Place 18174 MotoRoyal – from South Bend, IN, USA
Here is what the Judges have to say about the winner of this Award:
This colorful team impressed the judges with their intentional design choices. Their passive sample mechanism and sleek pass-thru intake sang to the judges. The team’s fusion of their CAD and use of sensors resulted in a semi-autonomous performance.
Winner 14954 The Teal Roborioles – from Avon, IN, USA
Connect Award
The Connect Award is presented to the team that the Judges feel most connected with their local Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) community. A true FIRST team recognizes that engaging their local STEM community plays an essential part in their success. The recipient of this award is recognized for helping the community understand FIRST, the FIRST Tech Challenge, and the team itself.

Winner 11959 Kernel Panic – from Columbus, IN, USA
Think Award
The Think Award is given to the team that the Judges feel best reflects the journey of the engineering design process. The engineering portfolio is the key reference for Judges to help them identify the most deserving team. This team’s engineering portfolio focused on the design and build stages of the team’s robot and exemplified their journey as a team and engineers.
Second Place 24289 BG HERO 6 – from West Lafayette, IN, USA
Here is what the Judges have to say about the winner of this Award:
This team’s well-documented plans are always close at hand. Looking to the past for inspiration, they don’t waste time reinventing the wheel. They don’t let the weight of their massive engineering notebook be an anchor, even if their pit is under the sea.
Winner 19366 CTF – from Bedford, IN, USA

2024-2025 INTO THE DEEPSM presented by RTX
In the INTO THE DEEP℠ presented by RTX challenge, launching September 7, 2024, FIRST Tech Challenge teams will dive their robots into the depths of the ocean to explore the unknown and reveal its wonders.
Season Video
Beneath the ocean’s surface lies our planet’s most complex ecosystems, full of life and potential for exploration and learning, where each inhabitant has a role to play in building a thriving environment. During the 2024-2025 FIRST season, FIRST® DIVE℠ presented by Qualcomm, teams will use their STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, we’ll uncover the potential in each of us to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans.
