Off-Season CompetitionsIt’s that time of year! Off-season competitions are here. IndyRAGE (Raising Awareness for Girls in Engineering) is set for Saturday, October 21, 2023. The event is at Perry Meridian High School, Indianapolis, IN Drive teams must be all female. We will play the 2023 FRC Game “CHARGED UP” with some potential changes to the tournament structure depending on the number of teams and time constraints. We already have some great FIRST leaders signed up for key volunteer roles! There will be an interactive activity with Girl Scouts and some discussion / learning sessions during the lunch break. It could be a parent, friend of team, grandparent, coach etc. The volunteer roles filled could be any of the available volunteer positions, from queuing, field reset, volunteer check-in, and more. FIRST Mentor NetworkIs your team in need of mentors? Did you know that you can set up a FIRST Mentor Network profile in your dashboard and then your team will be visible to potential mentors in your area. Visit the FIRST Mentor Network site – https://info.firstinspires.org/mentor-network After setting up your profile, start posting links to it on social media. Create a one-pager and share with your local chamber of commerce. Share it with your local sponsors to encourage mentorship. Take a flyer with you to local outreach events and hand out to adults. Create a poster with a QR code encouraging people to sign up to be mentors. Use – canva to create your poster- printing is inexpensive. |
