SUMMARY:FTC State Championship
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) State Championships concluded in February and March 2026\, marking the peak of regional competition for the archaeology-themed DECODE season. Local tournaments throughout the winter qualified top teams to advance to their respective state tournaments\, which ultimately decided the teams that earned invitations to the 2026 FIRST World Championship in Houston. [1\, 2\, 3\, 4\, 5] \n\n\n\nKey Highlights of the 2026 State Championship Season \n\n\n\n\nTheme & Mechanics: The DECODE challenge tasked teams (grades 7-12) with designing\, programming\, and operating robots to simulate archaeological digs—uncovering artifacts and decoding hidden structures through both autonomous functions and driver-controlled periods. [1\, 2]\n\n\n\nNew Advancement Rules: The 2025–2026 season introduced a point-based event management ranking system. Rather than strict traditional sequential advancement slots\, a modified formula awarded points based on qualification ranking\, playoff progression\, and judged award tiers (such as the prestigious Inspire Award). SUMMARY:FLL-C Qualifying Tournament
DESCRIPTION:A qualifying tournament evaluates teams equally across four key pillars\, each accounting for one-quarter of their overall performance: \n\n\n\n\nThe Robot Game: Teams use their custom-built\, autonomous LEGO robots to complete as many missions as possible on a themed field mat. Matches last 2.5 minutes. Teams typically receive one practice round and three official rounds\, with only their highest single score counting toward rankings.\n\n\n\nInnovation Project: Teams give a formal presentation to a panel of judges detailing a real-world problem they researched\, their creative solution\, and how they shared their findings with the community.\n\n\n\nRobot Design: Teams present their robot’s mechanical design\, programming\, and strategy to judges\, explaining why they chose specific components or code structures.\n\n\n\nCore Values: Judges assess how well the team demonstrates FIRST Core Values—including team spirit\, inclusion\, innovation\, and Gracious Professionalism (competing hard but treating others with profound respect).
